Bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements remain a serious
threat to achieving access to medicines for HIV and other diseases.
Countries and economic blocs such as the US and the European Union have
been pushing free trade agreements that would see the capacity of
countries to produce and/or access affordable generic medicines eroded,
working instead to benefit the economies of the global north and in the
interests of multinational pharmaceutical companies.Communities the
world over have been fighting back! Join them in the battle to put life
   over profit.

This morning, activists protested during Hillary Clinton’s speech at
the International AIDS conference, to denounce the Trans Pacific
Partnership (TPP) currently on negotiation between the United States
and different countries and threatening to create barriers to the
production, import and export of generic medicine.

This ITPC policy brief provides an overview of critical issues in the
   development of treatment access initiatives.

In June the United Nations General Assembly set bold new targets to put
15 million people living with HIV on treatment by 2015. This global
pledge dovetailed the new Treatment 2.0 framework proposed by
WHO/UNAIDS that aims to catalyze the next phase of HIV treatment scale
up through promoting innovation and efficiency gains.
