Today, Public Citizen, Consumers Union and 11 other civil society groups wrote Majority Leader McConnell, Minority Leader Reid, Speaker Ryan, Minority Leader Pelosi, Chairman Alexander, Ranking Member Murray, Chairman Upton and Ranking Member Pallone calling on them not to advance the so-called '21st Century Cures' bill during the lame duck session of Congress.

Find the letter here (pdf): http://www.citizen.org/documents/21st-century-cures-no-lame-duck-november-2016.pdf

Here is the memo on the subject that we sent to reporters this morning: http://www.citizen.org/pressroom/pressroomredirect.cfm?ID=9047

Participants of this list would probably be most interested in the dangerous provision in the version of the bill passed by the House of Representatives last year that would provide an additional six months of exclusivity for all indications of a drug when a new orphan indication is approved for the same. Last year we estimated this provision could cost the U.S. 12 billion dollars over ten years. See that report here: http://www.citizen.org/documents/2289.pdf
