Announcement of Communities Delegation Board and Alternate Board Member
Communities Delegation to the Unitaid Board appoints
Mr Kenly Sikwese as Board Member and
Ms Faith Nakigudde as Alternate Board Member
*18 January 2018 (Geneva, Switzerland)*— The Communities Delegation of
people living with and affected by HIV, TB and malaria and those
coinfected with HIV and HCV (Communities Delegation) to the Unitaid
Board is delighted to announce the appointments of Mr Kenly Sikwese as
the Board Member, and Ms Faith Nakigudde as the Alternate Board Member.
They have both started their terms on 1st January 2018 and serve until
31st December 2019.
Mr Kenly Sikwese is currently the Coordinator at the African Community
Advisory Board (AFROCAB-HIV) whose goal is to advocate for greater
access to quality anti-HIV treatment (drugs, diagnostics and services)
for all PLHIV in sub-Sahara Africa. Kenly, a Zambian national, is a
former Africa Delegate to the UNAIDS PCB NGO Delegation, Co-Chair of the
UNAIDS Treatment Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee, Member of
the INTEREST Virology Workshop/Conference and IAPAC Adherence Organising
and Scientific Committees. He is strong advocate for community
participation in clinical trials and other research. Kenly is also a
former member of the WHO ARV treatment guidelines (2013) and testing
guidelines. He is a regular speaker at regional and international
conferences on issues affecting PLHIV and a former member of the Robert
Carr Fund Steering Committee.
Ms Faith Nakigudde comes from Uganda, a Unitaid implementing country and
has 14 years experience working with Communities in Malaria and HIV in
Africa.She has served on several boards in Uganda including the Malaria
and Early Childhood Illnesses (MACIS) and the CCM for Global Fund in
Uganda representing Communities living and affected by Malaria. Living
with HIV for 9 years and coming from a family where 4 of her family
members died from HIV/AIDS, Faith comes on board with experience of the
many issues affecting people living and Affected by HIV and Malaria.
Faith is a Public Health Specialist working with Wentz Medical Center /
Renewal Healthcare Network, she manages the program and four other
health facilities under the Network focusing on issues of affordability
and accessibility of healthcare services.
We would like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude and
immense appreciation to out-going Board Member Ms Gracia Violeta Ross
Quiroga for her leadership, enthusiasm and commitment during her tenure
as Board Member of the Communities Delegation.
