This is a valuable, evidence-based report of the extent of patent barriers to access to medicines in South Africa. It not only analyses the patent landscape for 4 medicines used in the treatment of cancer and Hepatitis B, but also provides constructive suggestions on how the country can amend its legislation introduce measures to eliminate evergreening patents, as well as to ensure transparency of patent data.
