Earlier this year Directive 2001/29/EC, also known as the 'Copyright' or 'Infosoc' Directive, turned 10. To mark this belated birthday, the CRIDS (University of Namur) and IViR (University of Amsterdam) are jointly organizing a conference at the European Parliament in Brussels - on Friday, January 13, 2012.
The overall objective of the event is to assess the achievements of the Directive and to discuss possible next steps.. Has the Directive been a success? What is still missing to foster a thriving European market for cultural products and an inclusive knowledge society?
Speakers include: Maria Martin-Pratt (Head of Copyright Unit, EC DG Market), Prof. Lionel Bently, Prof. Séverine Dusollier, Prof. Christophe Geiger, Dr. Lucie Guibault, Prof. Bernt Hugenholtz, Prof. Justin Hughes and Prof. Martin Senftleben.
