Save The Date: IFLA Webinars on Global Copyright Discussions and How to Get Involved

Modern, balanced copyright laws are key to the fulfilment of libraries' public interest mission. In parallel with efforts to improve legislation at the national level, IFLA is also calling for change globally at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)<https://www.wipo.int/portal/en/index.html>.

This year, WIPO is organising three regional meetings: in Africa<https://www.ifla.org/node/91998>, in Latin America and the Caribbean<https://www.ifla.org/node/91999> and in Asia-Pacific<https://www.ifla.org/node/91997>. Each of these will look into the current landscape of exceptions and limitations to copyright for libraries in the region, and offers an opportunity to show what libraries need, and so move discussions forward.

IFLA is offering a series of webinars focused on each of the regional seminars, which will set out the context and why it matters, explain the process, explore the copyright landscape for libraries in the region, and offer ideas on how to get involved.

The first webinar, focused on the Asia-Pacific region, will take place on 19 March 2019, at 10am CET<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20190319T090000&p1=1314> [more info here<https://www.ifla.org/node/92000>].

The third webinar, focused on the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, will take place on 4 June 2019 at 5pm CET<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20190319T090000&p1=1314> in Spanish [more info here<https://www.ifla.org/ES/node/92008>], and on 5 June 2019 at 5pm CET<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20190319T090000&p1=1314> in English [more info here<https://www.ifla.org/node/92004>].
