URGENT REQUEST: Seeking US allies to support India's use of compulsory
license on essential anti-TB medicines to sign-on *by 5/4*!

Similar to our collective advocacy to support compulsory licenses and
march-in rights in the US, we're calling on the USTR to stand down on
India's use of other TRIPS flexibilities, including compulsory licenses and
patent oppositions on anti-TB meds, bedaquiline and delamanid, to address
rampant TB cases that have increased alongside the critical COVID-19
epidemic. Securing the TB meds supply can save additional lives and
strengthen resources for India's respiratory healthcare facilities. Thanks
for your solidarity!

Dear Colleagues,

In an effort to support activists and civil society based in India fighting
for access to essential TB medicines, attached is a letter calling on the
U.S. Trade Representative to stand down on India's efforts to issue
compulsory licences for key anti-TB medicines, bedaquiline and delamanid.

*To sign-on to this letter, please visit this

<https://forms.gle/Xf4ZE6JA4CGfY7gm6> and fill out the form. *

*Sign-on deadline: Tuesday, May 4 COB. *

As you know with concurrent epidemics of COVID-19 and TB, the public health
situation in India is dire. A hearing on CL's for these important TB
medicines is expected to go before the Delhi High Court soon. The Indian
government needs every tool at its disposal to expand access to these
lifesaving interventions without repercussions.

*Please sign-on your organization by May

Please feel free to share and disseminate with other U.S.-based
organizations and networks that would be interested in signing on. Thanks
for taking action!
