We just watched Surie Moon, an MSF board member, testify before the
Senate HELP Committee on neglected diseases. She provided a powerful
and very effective description and analysis of the current market
failures for neglected diseases, and introduced the committee to the
debate over de-linkage of R&D costs and high drug prices, including
discussions of the need to create sustainable systems of push and pull
financing that incorporate the de-linkage principle. People in our
office who watched the Internet feed or attended in person were quite
impressed and moved by Surie's presentation.
