Call for Papers: Trade and Investment Rules and Access to Medicines in low- and middle-income countries
As the world is experiencing the COVID-19 crisis, there is a renewed concern about the extent to which the international trade and investment treaty regime is compatible with access to medicines and other essential health technologies in the low and middle-income countries.
To accelerate knowledge in this area, the Boston University Global Development Policy Center will hold a global virtual symposium on December 9-11, 2020, where experts will discuss how trade and investment treaties impact access to medicines and other health technologies in low and middle-income countries in a post COVID-19 world.
The Center is seeking rigorous academic abstracts of not more than 500 words. The abstract should include the overall study topic (political economy, law, economics, cross-disciplinary, etc.), background, methodology, results and conclusions. It specifically encourages contributions from first authors who reside in low- and middle-income countries.
Interested authors should send the abstract to Rachel Thrasher at the Boston University GDP Center (rthrash at bu.edu<mailto:rthrash at bu.edu>) no later than Friday, July 31, 2020.
A select group of these papers may be eligible to be part of a special edition of the Journal of Globalization and Development<https://www.degruyter.com/view/journals/jgd/jgd-overview.xml>.
